⚠️ Important — Please Read

The results produced by PayClear UK are estimates only. They are not official HMRC figures, not guaranteed to be accurate for your specific circumstances, and should never be used as the sole basis for a financial decision. Always verify with HMRC or consult a qualified accountant.

Calculation Accuracy

PayClear UK calculates estimates of UK income tax, National Insurance, student loan repayments and take-home pay based on publicly available HMRC rates and thresholds for the 2026/27 tax year (and prior years where selected).

While we make every effort to keep our calculations accurate and up to date, your actual PAYE deductions may differ from our estimates due to:

  • Tax code — your employer applies your specific tax code, which may include adjustments for benefits in kind, multiple jobs, underpaid tax from previous years, or other HMRC instructions
  • Employer arrangements — some employers operate salary sacrifice, childcare vouchers, cycle-to-work schemes or other arrangements that affect NIable and taxable pay
  • Multiple employments — having more than one job affects how the Personal Allowance is allocated
  • Pension scheme type — net pay arrangement, relief at source and salary sacrifice schemes are calculated differently by different payroll systems
  • Mid-year changes — tax code changes, salary changes, or benefit changes part-way through a tax year affect cumulative PAYE calculations in ways a simplified annual model cannot fully replicate
  • HMRC adjustments — HMRC may instruct your employer to collect underpaid tax through your PAYE code
  • Rounding and payroll software — payroll systems apply period-based rounding that can produce small differences from annual estimates
  • Scottish and Welsh taxpayers — if you are a Scottish or Welsh taxpayer and this is not correctly reflected in your tax code, your deductions may differ

HMRC is the Authority

HMRC is the authoritative source of all UK tax rules, rates and thresholds. If there is any discrepancy between our calculations and HMRC's own calculators or correspondence, HMRC's figures are correct. You can check your tax position directly at gov.uk/check-income-tax or by calling HMRC on 0300 200 3300.

Self-Employed and Limited Company Calculations

Our self-employed, limited company and umbrella company calculators use simplified models. In particular:

  • Ltd company calculations assume a specific salary/dividend split and do not account for all possible allowances, reliefs or company-specific costs
  • Corporation Tax calculations use the main rate and small profits rate but do not account for research and development relief, capital allowances, or other adjustments
  • Self-employed calculations do not account for all allowable expenses or capital allowances
  • Umbrella company calculations are estimates based on typical margin structures; actual deductions vary by umbrella company
