About PayClear
Free UK salary and tax calculators, built on published HMRC rates. No signup, no data collection, no hidden fees.
Our Mission
PayClear exists to make UK tax straightforward. Understanding your take-home pay — after Income Tax, National Insurance, pension contributions and student loan deductions — should not require an accountant or a spreadsheet. PayClear gives every UK employee, contractor and self-employed worker instant, accurate salary calculations based on official HMRC rates.
We cover PAYE employees, limited company contractors, umbrella company workers, and the self-employed. Every calculator is free, requires no registration, and works on any device.
How PayClear Works
All calculations happen entirely in your browser. When you enter a salary figure, PayClear applies the relevant UK tax rules directly on your device using JavaScript. No salary information, personal details or calculation results are ever transmitted to our servers.
This means PayClear is private by design — not by policy. There is nothing to collect because the data never leaves your browser. You do not need to create an account, verify an email address or accept marketing communications to use any calculator.
PayClear has no login system and no database of user salaries. Closing your browser tab ends the session entirely.
Sources & Accuracy
All calculations are based on publicly available HMRC rates and thresholds for the 2026/27 tax year (6 April 2026 to 5 April 2027). Our primary sources are:
- GOV.UK — Income Tax rates and Personal Allowances
- GOV.UK — National Insurance rates and categories
- HMRC — 2026/27 Student Loan repayment thresholds (Plans 1, 2, 4, 5 and Postgraduate)
- HMRC — Scottish income tax rates (published by the Scottish Government)
- HMRC — Pension auto-enrolment thresholds and salary sacrifice guidance
PayClear is updated at the start of each tax year and whenever HMRC publishes significant mid-year changes. The current rates reflect the 2026/27 tax year. Always verify important financial decisions against the official GOV.UK guidance or with a qualified accountant.
Disclaimer
PayClear is an independent, free-to-use calculator platform. Results are provided for guidance and estimation purposes only and do not constitute financial, tax or legal advice. Calculations use standard assumptions (tax code 1257L, no taxable benefits, standard National Insurance class) and will not reflect every individual’s personal circumstances.
For decisions affecting your tax position — including pension planning, IR35 status, self-assessment filings or redundancy pay — always consult a qualified and regulated accountant, financial adviser or HMRC directly. PayClear accepts no liability for decisions made on the basis of these estimates.
PayClear is not affiliated with, endorsed by or a representative of HMRC, GOV.UK or any government body.
